Ah, the lazy days of summer. Perhaps that’s why the June edition of Connections is just arriving, you may be thinking. If that was only the case! It’s been a great time of growth at The AFA, and I’d like to share our good news with you.

We’re welcoming two new employees to The AFA: Brian Armentrout and Vivian Rodriguez. In addition to Melinda, Corey, Lisa and myself, these two new folks will enable us to better serve all of you and expand our educational efforts in ways we’ve only dreamed about.

Brian, a media veteran and most recently an anchor and on-camera reporter for ABC news in Birmingham, joins The AFA as our Communications Director. Brian’s heartfelt interest in issues related to fertility, combined with his degree in Journalism and Mass Communications makes him a perfect fit for this work.

Vivian, a Fulbright scholar, has been working as a paralegal at a Manhattan law firm, and joins us as our Development and Administrative Associate. She brings language skills in Spanish, Italian and Thai, a degree major in Spanish and Communications, and a profound desire to work in the non-profit sector on issues of family building.

Over the next six months, we’re committed to continuing to improve the services we offer. We’ll update our online library more frequently, reinvigorate our message boards, and launch a series of online education modules, narrated by top professionals in the fields of fertility and reproductive medicine. We’ll be reshaping the way we communicate with all of you to make those communications more effective. We’ll also be focusing our efforts on reaching a younger group of people with the message of fertility preservation.

So much for the lazy days of summer! As always, we need the ongoing support of our members to help us continue to meet the ever-growing needs of people who are struggling with infertility. All contributions are tax-deductible and deeply appreciated. On behalf of the entire staff, enjoy this issue and enjoy the summer.
